I guess the old adage is true: the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. McBush graduated five places from the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy. (894/899) means that old scarface couldn't even cut the 1st percentile. McCain has himself admitted that the economy is not his strong suit. He prides himself on being a war hero who's going to ride a white horse and save us from Islamofascim. However, the man can't tell the difference between Al-Qaeda and Iran. He's made the same mistake several times. McCain and Bush prove that great minds think alike. "Hundred Year War" McCain should get back to debunking conspiracies for Popular Mechanics. His mind is better suited to that task.
This past month was very important for Latin American politics - the South American Union was born. Newspapers have thus far mentioned integration, cooperation, mutual assistance and other vague terms when describing the new superstate. But what's the true reason for the formation of Unasur?
If you consider Hugo Chavez - the man who is leading a crusade against what he terms 'American imperialism' - then the first thought would be to assume that he seeks to defend Latin America from his mortal enemy. Chavez has on previous occasions called for the formation of a South Atlantic Treaty Organization in order to confront its counterpart to the north. Latin American leaders see the need to deter American aggression.
It may be hard for many to understand why exactly America is feared. The wars of aggression in the Middle East have served as a wake up call for people around the world. Many have begun to study American history, and the Gulf of Tonkin, Operation Northwoods and countless other incidents form a pattern that would make a serial killer smile. The internet has unleashed this knowledge for all to see.
Such knowledge breeds fear, and as the great philosopher Yoda stated: "Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate." China and Iran are much worse, you might say. They are worse, that much is true, from a domestic perspective. The average citizen of xrepublic cares little for the internal affairs ofy dictatorship - it affects him very little. Although the US might be a democratic utopia in comparison to Iran or China, those nations are not seen as ruthless enemies that could bring about sudden death in a missionary crusade. Few sensible people fear that China will decide to fund an insurgency group in Nicaragua to defeat capitalism.
It goes with the old saying: "You can be an abusive drunk at home, but if you are a nice, amicable fellow on the street, people will turn a blind eye to your doings at home." If you are a good person at home, your family[countrymen] will love you even as you spend your spare time cracking skulls for the mafia à la Tony Soprano.
The president of Brazil Luis Lula da Silva has proposed that Unasur have its own currency to hedge against the falling dollar. Economic independence will give South America better leverage when it comes to dollar diplomacy. Mr. Lula has also suggested Unasur have its own military force to defend against "foreign aggression." The leaders of Latin America are growing bolder by the day, and they are now promoting what they refer to as the "self-aggression theory".
Colombia will not be joining Unasur's defense council. They claim that the defense council will not help them deal with their terrorism problems. Many suspect that Colombia has decided not to join because of accusations made by Hugo Chavez against Colombian president Alvaro Uribe. "I declare to the world that... I do not believe in anyone in the Colombian government," Chavez said in a televised speech. Chavez has on previous occasions accused Uribe of being "a puppet for American imperialism."
Just when I thought Fox news was already at an all-time low, they surprise me and drop to an even lower low. As per Michelle Malkin, the Keffiyeh, a traditional headdress of Arab men, is now indicative of ties to terrorism .
A Dunkin' Donuts commercial featuring TV chef and domestic diva Rachael Ray, wearing a silk scarf with the paisley design, was pulled after Michelle Malkin described the garment, " It has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad. Popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos."
I can't even begin to stress how ridiculous and ignorant Malkin appears to any sane individual. Should I assume that the president of Spain Jose Zapatero is a terrorist? After all, he posed with a Keffiyeh around his neck in 2006. I guess Zapatero had me fooled all this time. He's probably conspiring with Osama as I write. Osama, Zapatero and Junichiro Koizumi are conniving this very instant. The truth is: I am an appeaser. Every neo-con knows that the most dangerous threat facing America today is "the rise of the Mooslims."
It's a shame Rudy is out of the race. I guess we have to rely on McCain to "chase them back to their caves."
When Fox runs out of material in the near future, one of their reports will be the following: "The baseball cap has come to symbolize misogyny, drug trafficking and hood violence. Popularized by uneducated jocks and a regular adornment of violent minorities in rap videos."
Actually, such a report would not surprise me much.
It's the oldest trick in the book: attack yourself and blame your political opposition. The Romans loved it, and the Italians continued it as recently as the 80s with Operation Gladio - a rogue network under the auspices of NATO that carried out terrorist attacks which were later blamed on communist and other subversives in need of elimination within Europe.[BBC Documentary]
It seems that the Canadians are not as good as their counterparts in carrying out attacks. After the Quebec story made headlines across the internet some time ago, the corporate media has finally decided inform us lowly serfs of what happened that day.
It may be hard to believe but patsies and agent provocateurs are the rule rather than the exception. Most attacks carried out against civilian populations are sanctioned by government with the objective of justifying a desired domestic/foreign agenda. It's called a Hegelian dialectic: thesis, antithesis, synthesis - problem, reaction, solution. You engineer a problem, wait for the reaction, and step in as the savior offering the solution you desired to implement from the beginning.
A child can understand it. In the movie The Incredibles, the main villain, Syndrome, intends to use the newest Omnidroid to attack Metroville, and to stop it himself, in order to give the appearance that he himself is a new superhero.
Thesis: Attack Metroville Antithesis: Stop attack Synthesis: Pose as superhero
A few attacks ARE carried out by nuts, radical Jihadist, and violent separatist à la ETA or IRA... but usually nothing big.
Did you hear George Bush on the floor of the Knesset? He compared those who would speak to Iran with those who would have talked to Hitler. I am not here to defend Barack Obama, but instead to point out the insane hypocrisy of His Excellency George Bush.
Prescott Bush, His Excellency's grandfather, was indicted for bankrolling Nazi Germany. The words escape me. The saddest thing of all is that most Americans are completely unaware of Chimpy's ties to Nazism. There seems to be a complete media blackout on the subject. All the major news networks have remained completely silent on the issue. Not even PBS has touched it.
A co-host of The View was brave enough to bring up the issue and debate it with other fine members of the American intelligentsia.
Surely, the Chimp must be aware of what his grandfather did. Either that or he drank it out of his head. He probably also forgot about the military coup that his grandfather tried to engineer in the US. They didn't teach us about that one in school.
In 1933, Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler was approached[BBC] by a secretive group of wealthy industrialist and instructed to lead an army of 500,000 men to take down FDR and establish a fascist government in the United States.
BUTLER: They had both talked about the same kind of relief that ought to be given the President, and he [MacGuire] said: "You know, the American people will swallow that. We have got the newspapers. We will start a campaign that the President's health is failing. Everybody can tell that by looking at him, and the dumb American people will fall for it in a second."
Butler was a man of principle and believed in the constitution. He ratted out his would be handlers. However, there was little FDR could do. The same wealthy industrialist that tried to overthrow him controlled Wall Street. They had the power to plunge the US economy into an even bigger depression.
It's amazing how both incidents have been largely forgotten.
Bush, having recently returned from a tour of the middle-east, is once again ready to lead America to glory by sending out rebate checks. I must admit, I finally recognize Bush's genius. The rebate checks will not only do this, they will also do that, and before we know it, everything will be awesome once again.
If the US government were a corporation, all of the board members would have been locked up for fraud years ago. I am no fancy mathematician or anything - I did take a math class this past semester, however - but is it not a good idea to have money in your bank account before you write a check?
I guess the money is appearing out of thin air. I am no fancy economist or anything - I did briefly attend an economics seminar freshman year, however - but won't printing out a lot of money lead to inflation? Is inflation a good thing when food and gas are experiencing such terrible price explosions?
I personally must congratulate Mr. Bush. Inflation makes the true value of one's debt decrease. Being that I don't have to worry about gas or food, I am going to take out a huge loan and wait for the value of the dollar to decrease before I pay it off.
Update: Not only am I bitter because I didn't qualify for a rebate check, I also don't qualify for a million dollar loan(something about a steady job.)
With the Canadian seal hunt attracting international scorn and attention, some have decided to take a different approach to their relationship with seals. This young Russian girl has taken a seal as a pet.The question is: When will we see celebrities walking down the red carpet with a seal in hand?
This peaceful, noble and majestic animal is hunted for its pelt, blubber and meat in the most depraved manner imaginable. Many seals are barbarically clubbed to death in a way that would make any sensible person vomit violently.
My hope is that the peoples of the future will be able to look back at this dark period with shame and severe remorse. As Gandhi said: “The greatness of a nation [people] and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Designers such as Versace and Gucci use seal pelts in their fashion lines.
Born in Quebec to a Portuguese tourist who decided to extend his visit indefinitely after meeting my Québécoise mother, I grew up with a love for the human mind. After finishing my undergrad in psychology at Yale, I proceeded to become a grad student at the University of Toronto.
